Heads Up - Wotja 25 Pricing & Early Bird (EB) Deals

Wotja is a system for Generative Music. It's a niche and one-of-a-kind App from a team of two or three.

Without question it has come on in leaps and bounds since it was first released in 2014.

There really is nothing else quite like it and we don't think there ever will be (it would be simply too hard to do).

Due to the incredible support provided by those who choose to Go Pro we have over the years been able to devote a great deal of our time, effort and love to develop it to be today as deep, powerful, versatile and valuable as it.

We do it for you, and we thank you deeply for your support!

We hope that Wotja continues to remain important for you, which may well be for some of these reasons.

Setting the Scene

We are sure you will have found that over the last couple of years times have definitely got harder, not easier. We have found that, too.

You will have lived through a world wide inflation bubble which means your costs and outlays have gone up. That is the same for us, and often by a lot more than might be expected.

Continued Development

We know it's hard to understand why it takes so much development effort just to stand still. But, we know you'll appreciate that OS and device ecosystems never stop changing.

And, on top of the above, you will appreciate that Wotja is a niche App for a niche audience. It is increasingly deep, complex, powerful and versatile - and we also need to fund work on New Features & Improvements!

You may also be interested to know that we continue to actively develop a major version of Wotja for the first 6 months (or sometimes more) of a year.

After that we try to start work on what will be in the next major version - assuming that Bug fixes and other sundry improvements, as necessary and which can come throughout the year, do not sideline us too much (there has been quite a bit of that this year though)!

Prices will be rising in 2025

The Wotja 25 App will arrive on January 1st 2025. It will be a free update.

Whether you are a new or old customer know that we always try to deliver exceptional value and we have a range of IAP options to suit many preferences.

In light of what we set out above, however, and after many months of careful deliberation, we have come to the conclusion that in 2025 we do need to raise our prices, i.e. for the Pro IAP options that will be in Wotja 25.

We know it is very unconventional to pre-announce price rises so far in advance.

We are providing this heads up now primarily so that we can let our long term customers (and you might be one!) know about our extra special value Early Bird Deals for next year.

If you might be interested in them, we do not want you to miss them.

One Time Buy

At the beginning of each calendar year we release a new major Version of Wotja and add to it a corresponding Pro One Time Buy (see also Pro mode).

By default that is the only Pro One Time Buy you will be to purchase in that major version*.

For example, Wotja 24 included the Pro 24 One Time Buy and Wotja 25 will include the Pro 25 One Time Buy.

* Note: If for some reason you really need (or wish) to purchase an older One Time Buy then in Wotja 24.4+ there is a facility in Settings to allow you to do this - see this FAQ. To avoid confusion, prices for any old One Time Buys available to purchase will in January be higher than the Early Bird price for the new One Time Buy. Outside this period, they may or may not be at their original SRP.

25 Pro One Time Buy

Every year and for every App Store we decide on the master USD $ SRP price for each of our IAPs.

Each App Store uses these prices and, using its own conversion table (we have no control over this), converts them into a local currency price.

The currently expected USD $ SRP One Time Buy prices are as follows (but see Early Bird Deals, too!):

  • 25 Pro One Time Buy SRP for Apple: USD $59.99 (TBC)
  • 25 Pro One Time Buy SRP for Windows: USD $59.99 (TBC)
  • 25 Pro One Time Buy SRP for Android: USD $19.99 (TBC)
25 Pro OTB Early Bird (EB) Deals (Apple OS/Windows)

Our Early Bird Deals are extra special value time-limited prices on the new Pro One Time Buy USD $ SRP.

We run these deals each year and they are primarily for the benefit of long term customers. However, anyone who knows about them can take advantage of them. See also this FAQ.

Simply put, we don't want you to miss them as once they are gone, they are gone!

Tip: If you want to, you can think of an Early Bird Deal as a special upgrade price that is available for 1 month only!

The Early Bird Deal for a 25 Pro One Time Buy will be as follows:

  • 25 Pro One Time Buy price for Apple: USD $59.99 $39.99 (available only in January 2025)
  • 25 Pro One Time Buy price for Windows: USD $59.99 $39.99 (available only in January 2025)

25 Pro OTB Early Bird (EB) Deals (Android)

Unlike for Apple/Windows above, we have not yet decided if for Android we will do Early Bird Deals on the new Pro 25 One Time Buy USD $ SRP. We may do, we may not... Stay tuned!

If we do decide to do it, the Early Bird Deal for a 25 Pro One Time Buy would likely be as follows:

  • 25 Pro One Time Buy price for Android (via Amazon or Google Play): USD $19.99 $12.99 (available only in January 2025)

Subscriptions in 2025 (Apple OS/Windows)

Some of you may not like Subscriptions, but they do have several benefits.

When it comes to Subcriptions we are customers ourselves and so we have only ever wanted to adopt solutions that we would like to see.

We can tell you that we are not fans of 12 month Subscriptions. That is because in our view they are mainly there to try to lock you in. You will be pleased to know therefore that we have no plans to offer them.

Instead, we will continue to offer 1 month auto-renewing Subscriptions that are easy-to-cancel. They represent excellent value and allow you to dip in and out whenever you like, if that is what you really want to do.

We try to hold Subscription prices for a couple of years or more (if we can). Despite the cost increases we refer to above, we have managed to hold our Subscription prices for quite a while now. The time has come, however, where we do need to increase them and we think it appropriate the prices are now the same whatever the OS.

We say it again: Each App Store uses these prices and, using its own conversion table (we have no control over this), converts them into a local currency price.

The Pro Subscription SRP USD $ prices in 2025 will be as follows:

  • Wotja for Apple OS - Pro Subscription price: $4.99
    • Rather than increasing the price on Jan 1st 2025, as you might expect, we will make the change on December 1st 2024.
    • This is to minimise the chance that you inadvertently miss our excellent Early Bird Deal, should you wish to consider a 25 Pro One Time Buy instead of renewing your Subscription.
    • The EB deal will be available only in January 2025 so at least you will have time to decide what you want to do.
  • Wotja for Windows - Pro Subscription price: $4.99
    • Because of the way Microsoft do things, any increase in the price of a Subscription has to be done via an altogether new Subscription IAP.
    • This means that Wotja 25 (available Jan 1st 2025) will include a new Subscription IAP.
    • The old Subscription IAP will at that time be removed from sale meaning it will not auto-renew whatever version of Wotja you are using (i.e. Wotja 24 or Wotja 25).
      • Note: If you are a Subscriber and for some reason you HAVE to continue using Wotja 24 in Pro mode then see this FAQ.
    • We are advising of this change now in the hope that you do not inadvertently miss our excellent Early Bird Deal, should you wish to consider a 25 Pro One Time Buy instead of taking out the new Subscription.
    • The EB deal will be available only in January 2025 so you will have time to decide what you want to do.
Thirty Day Unlocks in 2025

The prices for these will also increase and can and do change from time to time.

Will there be other sales?

There might or might not be. We simply don't know at this time as we tend not to run other OTB sales during the course of a year. That is because of our varied and flexible IAP options to Go Pro.

All we can say is that if there were any then any sale discount would be very unikely to be as good as that in the Early Bird Deals - so please don't miss them!

Finally, remember that Limited End User Direct Support is only available during the XX calendar year of a XX OTB.
